Hill House is a transition house for women and their dependent children who are experiencing relationship violence and abuse. Hill House provides safe, emergency accommodation for up to 30 days, supportive counselling, information about the dynamics of relationship violence and referrals to community supports. Most importantly, Hill House provides women with an opportunity to support and be supported by other women in the same situation.

Hill House is a safe place for women, with or without children, who are escaping violent or abusive relationships. Abuse can include emotional as well as physical abuse.
We can provide:

- Support to meet the needs of your children

DOVETAIL PROGRAMS
Dovetail Programs are specialized counselling, education and support programs for women who have experienced relationship violence, as well as for their dependent children. These programs are for the tenant families residing in the Cridge Centre's Supportive Transitional Housing. (Some programs are available to non-tenants on a limited basis).
Our goals are to support women and children who have been impacted by relationship violence by:
1. Recognizing the gendered issues of power and control
2. Providing long-term advocacy and support through:
- specialized counselling, education and support programs including:
- supportive counselling: individual and group
- children who witness abuse counselling: individual and group
- parenting support
- advocacy in the legal, medical, educational, social service systems
- resource information and referrals to community agencies.
3. Assisting families with their household management and budgeting.
4. Decreasing isolation and promoting inclusiveness through social and recreational opportunities.
Dovetail Programs typically include:
- Connections:
- A support group for women who have experienced relationship violence and abuse.
- Offered Monday evenings and Thursday mornings.
- Participants must contact the facilitators before attending.
- No childminding is provided.
- Women's Outdoor Recreation Group
- One-to-one counselling for women
- Available by appointment with DP staff.
- Parenting Support:
- Individual counselling and group programs.
- Children's Programs:
- Individual and group counselling and activities to help children recognize and express their feelings, focusing on children who witness violence.
- Community Kitchens
- Planning and preparing meals in small groups.
- Home Management:
- Individual support and group activities for nutrition, budgeting, Food Safe, meal planning, etc.
- Other groups and activities are provided when deemed appropriate and possible.
- These groups have included: Toxic Ties, Women's Activity Group, Art Therapy Workshop, etc.
