THE CRIDGE VILLAGE SENIORS CENTRE
One of the views from the new Centre
DEFINITIONS:
- ASSISTED LIVING: provides in-home support services
for seniors. All Assisted Living settings provide access to 24 hour
help, nutritious meals, light housekeeping and linen service, assistance
with personal care (established through an eligibility process determined
by a VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager) and social and recreational
activities
- MARKET HOUSING: Independent living, seniors housing
units that are not subsidized through the VIHA Assisted Living Program.
These units do provide attractive, home-like settings, meals, light
housekeeping, linen service, socialization and recreational activities
- RESPITE: the use of a unit on a temporary basis for
convalescent care resulting from hospitalization or short term illness.
It is also available to provide a relief mechanism for caregivers. It
should be noted that if care services are required for a respite stay,
this service will be provided by an outside agency and will be on an
individual, private pay basis.
- TRANSITIONAL CLIENTS: refers to clients who may be
waiting for a bed in hospital, or are receiving some type of treatment
from the hospital (e.g. dialysis, chemotherapy) and require temporary
accommodation with supportive services. There is no on-site care provided
for this service.
- ELIGIBILITY: anyone wishing to enquire about eligibility
for the VIHA Assisted Living Program should contact a VIHA Home and
Community Care Case Manager at 388-CARE (388-2273)
