Respite Information
Service
Parents who have
a child with a disability and professionals who work with a child
with disabilities may require information about a variety of resources
such as licensed childcare options in Greater Victoria. Through
this service, families and professionals can receive a list of childcare
facilities that may meet their needs.
Parents are responsible for screening, selecting and paying for
childcare. This program does not make recommendations or endorsements
of individual providers or child care facilities.
A database of respite providers is also maintained for those families
who may wish to have an aide/respite caregiver working with their
child either in a program or in the family’s home. The Respite
Coordinator will assist families in finding information through
an enhanced referral.
Other information that is available includes community resources
for children with special needs; agencies that offer support to
families; workshops and training opportunities; information to help
families select childcare; special events in the community and recreational
program information.
