This beautiful stained glass piece has been created by women of the Hill House Transition House Outreach Program who call themselves the "FORGING SPIRITS."
The title of the piece "REEF TO SKY" symbolizes their experiences of grief and healing from abuse and loss.
The goals of the project were to
1. Bring women together to support one another
2. Work together to accomplish a common vision
3. Enhance women's self confidence and self reliance
4. Take pride in the healing journey.
Under the guidance and inspiration of Outreach Leader Beata Drohomirecki and Artist/Instructor Barbara Lintaman the project was brought to fruition and all their goals met. The project has been widely hailed and celebrated and the Quilt was proudly featured at the National Day of Remembrance event at the provincial legislature on December 6, 2006 and presented to the public and media by Premier Gordon Campbell and Minister Ida Chong.
The quilt can be viewed at The Cridge Centre for the Family, 1307 Hillside Avenue, or if you would like to receive a brochure with more information about the Artist/Instructor and the meaning of the panels on the quilt, please email mgoley@cridge.org to request a brochure.
If you would like more information about upcoming projects of the Hill House Transition House Outreach Program, please call Beata at 479-3963.
We give grateful thanks for financial support from the Minister of Community
